Myopia Treatment

Myopia, also referred to as short-sightedness, is a vision problem experienced by approximately one-third of the population.

If you are myopic, you will have difficulty focusing at a distance, but can see clearly for close tasks such as reading or sewing. You may frequently suffer from headaches or eyestrain, and squint when driving or concentrating on distant objects.

If you are myopic, your glasses prescription will be a negative number, for example -3.0.

Most cases of myopia are caused by a natural change in the shape of the eyeball , making it egg-shaped rather than round. This causes light to focus in front of the retina, creating a blurry image, rather than directly on the retina.

Myopia runs in families and usually appears in childhood. A child is likely to be myopic if this condition is present in one or both parents.

Traditionally, most people who are myopic simply wear glasses or contact lenses to correct their vision. However refractive surgeries such as iLasik™ are delivering great results and permanent corrections for patients of Perfect Vision Laser Correction.
